Pausinystalia yohimbe (Yohimbe), formerly known as Corynanthe yohimbe, is a psychoactive plant which contains the tryptamine alkaloid yohimbine. It is widely distributed over-the-counter as an herbal aphrodisiac.
Yohimbine is an alkaloid with stimulant and aphrodisiac effects found naturally in Pausinystalia yohimbe, Yohimbine has been used as both an over-the-counter dietary supplement in herbal extract form and prescription medicine in pure form for the treatment of sexual dysfunction. Yohimbe doesn't contain just yohimbine, but also 55 other alkaloids. Yohimbine accounts for 1--20% of total alkaloids.
Originated from a tree bark in Africa. It has been found to be helpful for men with erectile dysfunction (ED). This herbal medication can cause tachycardia and hypertension if improperly dosed and should generally only be used under the supervision of a practitioner knowledgeable in herbal medicine.
